The Museum visit

The 1 to 1.5h tour shows the steps to the creation of a Brun de Vian-Tiran fabric: the quest for the noble fibres to make it, its birth in the imagination of Pierre and Jean-Louis Brun, its creation by the skilled woolworkers in our workshops.

1
The Entrance

The museum is located in one wing of the Brun de Vian-Tiran factory, near the centre of Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, classed as industrial national heritage by the Architectes des Bâtiments de France. On a vast 1200 m²entrance area, a monumental scene displays the extreme natural environment which creates our noble fibres: a mountain, with woolly animals greeting visitors on their arrival - ram, Cashmere goat, yak, camel… Artistic lighting transforms the spot into a real show at nightfall..

2
The imagination…

… of Pierre and Jean-Louis Brun: dive into the world of natural materials, of textures and colours, in a totally unique film display. Surrounded by 360° of screens formed from mohair thread beams, swim in an immense field of possibilities. Pierre and Jean-Louis Brun tell of creating fabrics inspired by nature.

3
The wool market

Our unceasing quest for noble fibres has meant travelling all over the world. Sheep, goat, camel, and other even rarer wool fibres come from different breeds, and from the most hidden corners of the planet. They arrive in Isle-sur-la-Sorgue in specially-shaped bales. For each wool family, discover how each generation of the Brun family has sought to conquer excellence: first Mohair threads on the European continent, re-establishment of the flocks of ewes which give the most beautiful wools in Europe, genetic selection of Gobi desert baby camels ….

4
The workshops

Fifteen steps to transform raw wool into fabrics, to reveal all of nature’s softness. Carding, spinning, finishing, weaving, cleaning, fulling, teaseling …All carried out in the same buildings. See and run real textile machines, hear the noises of the different workshops, listen to stories of woolworkers and families, learn about the innovations contributed by each generation: here, the sensorial museum enables you to see, hear, touch, and understand.

5
The Show-Room

Here, creations reveal nature’s softness, to offer you the fabric which will carry you away, the one you want around you. Brun de Vian-Tiran’s creations are inspired by nature: each fibre, whether it is short or long, white or naturally pigmented, smooth or rough, straight or wavy, fine or thicker… tells us how to work it and reveal its beauty. Also discover Brun de Vian-Tiran’s partnership with the greatest French school of industrial design, the ENSCI-Les Ateliers Design Textile, for collections of merino throws with today’s most fashionable colours and patterns.
